My clients and friends will tell you I love to bang on about how to avoid digestion-destroying foods.
There are a lot of ’em.
So far I’ve told you about gluten (affects up to 80% of the western population) and milk (according to many experts, the number one allergy food on the planet).
They can both cause the same irritating symptoms as H pylori (but not in everyone: remember that individual differences in genetics, stress levels and other factors can make each person’s reactions to different foods and stimuli vary greatly).
How do I know this?
Well, when folk take out these foods from their diets, they often (but not always) feel better.
But there’s another player and it’s just as bad, and worse for some people.
It’s name is “soy” (or “soya” if you’re splitting hairs).
Promoted as a health food for profit, soy is a problem.
We can’t digest it very well. In fact, according to “The Whole Soy Story” by Kaayla Daniel, the Chinese knew this way back in the 1700s which is why a lot of soy foods are fermented when eaten in the Far East (think miso, tempeh, natto).
Fermentation aids digestion – we NEED to ferment it in order to make it pallatable and digestible, which says it all really.
Going back a decade, I used to promote soy-based weight loss shakes to my PT clients.
I used the shakes myself but always felt bloated and full of wind when I used them.
I also had a lot of loose stools.
This all stopped when I stopped using the shakes.
When my clients experienced similar symptoms, I threw away the whole shipment.
“Poison dressed as health food?” I don’t think this is far off. But again, remember that soy may not be so bad for you, because we’re all different.
Look, if you want to really get serious about getting your gut into shape, there are foods you MAY need to avoid.
Taking antibiotics to kill H pylori might get rid of the bug, but the foods will keep you unhealthy.
I’ve given you three to avoid now:
- Gluten.
- Cow’s milk.
- Soy.
Throw them out.
See how your gut feels.
My book teaches you how and it also teaches you how to use herbs to fight H pylori – the very same herbs I used to beat it twice.
Obviously I can’t guarantee you’ll achieve the same results I did, but it’s well worth a go and you may be surprised by the outcome.
Believe me, you have more to lose by eating these foods than you do by avoiding them.
Best,
Dave
Thank you very much for the information provided. Plz tell me which foods to eat.
Thanks!
Hi Pradeep – I can’t teach you what to eat and what to avoid in a single response.
There are 50+ pages of info covering this topic in my book, The H Pylori Diet
You can grab a copy here:
H-pylori-diet-ebook (PDF)
There’s a heck of a lot of info in there on diet, but also on which herbal products to
use to fight H pylori.
Warm regards
Dave

What milk alternative is the one you would recommend as the best tasting?
Anne,
That’s an issue of personal taste.
In my book, I recommend goat’s milk.
Sheep’s milk can also be used if it’s available.
I recommend sourcing it from a local farmer, farmer’s market, or co-op.
You will find goat’s milk, cheese and yogurt in many supermarkets now.
Lots more detail about a bunch of other foods that I also recommend you
avoid in the book:

Hope this helps and please let me know if I can help further!
Dave
PS I think I have replied to an email from you as well 🙂

What about almond milk instead of soy. I been drinking Unsweetened organic soy milk for years. Maybe that’s why I have thin superficial erosions in the body of my stomach.
No, I wouldnt use almond milk. I don’t recommend people eat nuts or nut products because of a) the common allergenicity of nuts in general and b) the types of oils in the nuts are damaging.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for this further information Dave. I am taking it all on board. I gave up cow milk a number of years ago and my sinus problems diminished pretty much completely. I have been consuming soy instead but I think now soy has left me with other sensitivity issues. I am giving it up as of today. (Not sure what to put in coffee but am considering dumping that as well. May not be easy.) I have been using almond milk in tea. It’s a very small amount once a day. I will try goat milk and seek other alternatives.
I need to give myself time this week end to go through your book in more detail. I am pretty much sold on the advantages of having the stool test.
Regards John
John.
Thanks for your post: well done on the diet changes you’ve made. They are important.
The stool test cuts time, and in the long run saves money because it helps determine
the real reasons for the symptoms.
Its ability to detect bacterial imbalances, parasites and Candida, etc. is excellent
and provides you with a platform on which to follow a systematic protocol.
H pylori is only one bad bug I see in people. There are many others.
Best,
Dave

i have been diagnosed with h-pylori and given a prescription for the h-pack which consists of 4 pills twice a day for 7 straight days. im sure you are familiar with this so called cure.
it seems my symptoms were going away but they started to come back after i finished the h-pack and in 3 weeks they are worse as ever. i have to wait for 6 weeks after finishing the h-pack and then the doc is giving me a breath test. you talk so much about indigestion and stomach pains iam wondering if it is h-pylori that i have my main symptoms are burping with an awful taste and passing huge amounts of gas with an awful sewer like smell.i can not control this but it is consistent throughout the day and evening. it is very embarrassing and annoying. maybe its gluten but i do not know what gluten is in. i do workout and drink approx 2 whey protein shakes a day plus i have 2 yogurts a day also and no milk. help
Hey Bob,
OK, I don’t recommend why protein. Stop drinking it immediately. It’s junk.
The H Pylori Diet e-book will help you change your diet to remove bad foods
and replace them with good foods. This is the very first step I recommend for you.
Check it out here:

You finished your triple therapy H pylori treatment 3 weeks ago.
Wait one more week, then re-test.
Either ask your doctor to retest (using breath or stool test, NOT blood test).
Or, alternatively, check this page as it contains information on very comprehensive
tests that do not only look for H pylori, but also parasites, other bacteria, Candida
and many other important markers:

Hello, I was dignosed with h pylori in January2015. I took all my medicine, but still burping a little. I think I need more medicine. I like to work out but when I drink whey protein I start to lose weight. I’m thinking it’s the whole milk I’m drinking, but I’m not sure. Maybe you could help. Thanks Gina!
Hi Gina,
I recommend you read my book, as I think you’re a little off the mark with your information here.
First, I don’t recommend you drink whey protein – it’s not ideal for the human body.
Second, you need to get re-tested if you have taken your treatment for H. pylori – how else will you know whether it has gone or not?
See: h-pylori-testing if your doctor will not test you.
Best,
Dave

If some one has hpylore diseases can he used protein poweders becuse iam going to jym everday so iam useing protein powdeders that’s good or bad for me
Depends on the quality of protein powder you’re using. Most of them are crap quality and very unhealthy.
Consider brands such as Designs For Health, Moss Nutrition, Metagenics…

Dave
